Welcome to the Cancer Epidemiology website. Cancer Epidemiology Unit is a department of the Epidemiology Center
of National Health Institute of Rome (Italy). In this website you can examine and
download cancer mortality data of 64 countries from 1955 to 2001,
according to the available data.
The basic mortality and population information, used for data calculation were downloaded
from World Health Organization (WHO) online database.
Our website contains deaths and mortality rates (crude and age-standardized), for every combination of
age class, from 32 cancer causes of death, all malignant neoplams and all causes of death.
Due to change in the International Classification of Disease (ICD) overtime, mortality data are subject to
caution and were calculated according to the cancer codes table reported in
the methods section. The age-standardized rates are calculated using World or European
population as a standard. Population data are also available in this website.
We are grateful to the WHO for the really precious work for collecting and providing
basic mortality and population data. We also want to thank the Data Processing Unit (SED)
of the National Health Institute of Rome for the precious support and, specially,
Paolo Roazzi (SED) for his valid work and suggestions.
